Garden Design, Rooted in Experience
New ground, deep roots.
A garden should be designed by someone who actually knows how things grow. After years spent working hands-on with plants as a horticulturalist and botanist, I now bring that knowledge into garden design — starting with a conversation about how you want to use your space, and shaping everything around your budget.
About
A new chapter, not a new beginner
I trained and worked for years as a horticulturalist and botanist — hands in the soil, learning what actually thrives, what fails quietly, and what a garden looks like five years after it's planted, not just on the day it's finished. Garden design is a new direction for me, but the plant knowledge behind it isn't new at all.
I started Botanic Blueprint because I kept meeting people who loved their garden's potential but didn't know where to begin — or had been given a design that looked lovely on paper and never quite worked in real life. I wanted to offer something more personal: a service where I actually listen, visit your space, and design around how you live, not a template.
Approach
Design starts with listening
No two gardens — or budgets — are the same, so the process starts with your space and your life in it, not a fixed package.
Listen
A conversation first — how you use the garden now, how you'd like to use it, and what budget we're working with.
Explore the space
A site visit to understand light, soil, drainage and existing planting worth keeping — the practical realities that make a design actually work.
Design & plant selection
A garden design and planting plan built for your site's real conditions, not just what looks good in a photo.
Plant & grow together
Support through planting and beyond, so the garden keeps developing the way it was designed to.
Every design is shaped around your budget from the very first conversation — not scaled back as an afterthought once it's already been drawn up.
For Every Garden, Every Stage
Gardens for every stage of life
A garden should keep working for you as life changes around it — here's some of the thinking that goes into that.
Family & Play
Durable, safe surfaces and sensory planting for kids to explore now, with room for the garden — and them — to grow up together.
Entertaining & Gathering
Layout, lighting and screening designed for evenings with friends — plus low-maintenance planting right where people actually sit.
Lifelong & Accessible Gardens
Raised beds, level and non-slip paths, and falls-risk-aware layouts that stay easy to enjoy and manage as mobility needs change.
Classic & Traditional Interest
Structured borders and time-tested plant combinations, chosen for year-round interest and a garden that matures beautifully.
Services
Design that fits your garden — and your budget
Every project is shaped to what you actually need. Here's roughly how support breaks down.
Initial Consultation & Site Visit
An in-person walk through your garden to talk through how you want to use the space, your budget, and what's realistic.
Full Planting & Garden Design
A complete design and planting plan tailored to your site's light, soil and drainage — not a one-size-fits-all layout.
Plant Selection & Sourcing Guidance
Recommendations for the right plants and reputable suppliers or nurseries, drawn from real growing experience.
Contractor Liaison & Project Oversight
Support working with landscapers and contractors so the finished garden matches the design intent.
Seasonal Aftercare Advice
Guidance through the first year of growth and beyond, so the garden matures the way it was designed to.
Something Smaller
Not every garden needs a full redesign — sometimes it's one border, one problem spot, or a second opinion.
Every project starts as a conversation — the scope is shaped around your space and your budget, not the other way round.
